Mark Halsey hates West Ham.
On Talksport now.

Says Carroll should have been sent off in the 3rd minute and for the elbow.

Admits refs hate having decisions overturned and that will affect refs performances against us.

Re: Mark Halsey hates West Ham.
So taking the OP literally, has a retired referee honestly just admitted live on air that having a red card decision over turned will affect the future refereeing performances against that club?

If that's true then the FA need to take that allegation very seriously and have a full investigation. If Halsey has said that then he has basically admitted that referees exercise bias in certain games. This is something that we have all suspected but for an ex-referee to admit it is huge.

Although there is the possibility that he said nothing of the sort I suppose...I havn't heard the interview!

The thing I can't stomach about all this business lately is the amount of ex refs and pundits saying "you shouldn't overturn these decisions because it undermines the refs and will affect their confidence/performances. If it doesn't stop we'all lose refs".

Fuck me, they're highly paid professionals providing a service to a billion pound industry. When they fuck up, they potentially cost the people who ultimately pay their wages an absolute fortune. Name me another business where this would be acceptable?? If I fuck up at work, I'd love to be absolved from blame in case it hurts my feelings!

Excision? Spell check is shot.

Meant decision.

Re: Mark Halsey hates West Ham.
No he didn't say he hated West Ham.

All he said was that referees get really fucked off when excision a get overturned and then they bear a grudge.

Or words to that effect.

Re the Carroll elbow on Gabriel. Ref took a long time to blow for it. Ball went back to Noble who controlled it & then passed to Payet who controlled it. Ref only blew whistle at that point which indicates he refereed Gabriel 's reaction rather than the actual incident.
Immediately before Carroll did Koscielny the Arse defender man handled Carroll out of the way to get the ball. The ref allowed this.

Carroll subsequently man handled Koscielny out of the way (a little bit more physically admittedly) for Payet 's disallowed goal & very similarly to how Carroll won the ball off Gabriel when he was kicked by the arse defender.
In both those instances the ref deemed Carroll ' s physical approach unacceptable yet it was OK for Koscielny.

The officials also disallowed a good Lanzini goal & did not give Lanzini a penalty when he was fouled.

Ref was shit.

Halsey always seemed to spend a lot of his career pleading that his closeness to certain people had no effect on his refereeing.

Our success SANS ALLARDYCE is making a lot of bitter people very angry.

Re: Mark Halsey hates West Ham.
Not sure if it's been mentioned but Halsey is also big mates with Allardyce and he used to train with Bolton and advise them years ago

As others have said why would a ref take umbrage with us when a panel overturns a decision due to their incompetence

Oh and he's a cunt

He hates Howard Webb and is desperate to disagree with pretty much anything he says, because Webb is reasonable and takes a softer approach he goes completely the other way to prove somehow he is better, he's basically a cunt

Did he actually say he "hates West Ham"? I'd put my mortgage on it that he didn't.

I see the fat git Jonathon Moss has been appointed for sundays game. another on 'The List', and in 7 games officiating Leicester games, they've won 6 and drawn one

Re: Mark Halsey hates West Ham.
So instead of ref's wondering why they keep making mistakes against us they will seek to punish us even more when they are shown to be incompetent?
Sounds like the sort of inadequate that takes up refereeing.
I just the impression some of them are in love with the 'glamour' of the Premiership and try and ingratiate themselves with their heroes. And have their favourites.
Halsey himself admits he rang his old mate Sir Alex when Clattenburg was caught calling Mikkel a monkey and asked him to show some support in his next press conference.

Again, I think it comes down to the defender's position in relation to the ball.

In the case of the Arsenal player (Koscielny / Gabriel?), he was shielding the ball near enough his feet to be considered in possession. The Sunderland player was absolutely done for pace, knew it, and tried to step across Vardy to block him. Had he done so successfully, I think a free kick and red card would have ensued.

What a load of old shit. We didn't overturn the decision, the panel did.

So he admits that they can have an agenda when it suits them then?! Mmmm poor comment if made.

Re: Mark Halsey hates West Ham.
You're right- plenty of other talking points!

Those two incidents struck me as being pretty similar though. Defender between ball and attacker, defender falls down under pressure from attacker, who puts hands on the back of the defender in both cases.

Different ref, different day. I'm sure both could have gone the other way under other circumstances.

I haven't seen a replay of the disallowed Payet goal incident, but from my view of it at the time, I'd say Carroll manhandled / impeded their defender who was trying to shield the ball, whilst in playing distance of it.

In contrast Vardy, knocked the ball well past the Sunderland defender who then tried to cut across and block Vardy without being anywhere near playing distance of the ball.

I'd like to see the Carroll incident again, but I have to say, it's probably the very least of our gripes on the day. Gabriel should have gone and the offside call on Lanzini was ridiculous.

Again, how easy would it have been for a video offical to make a call on that? The lino wouldn't even have had to raise his flag - he could simply say "was that offside" into his mic, whilst Lanzini was celebrating and a decision could have been made on it in 5 seconds.

It's the 21st century and we're playing with stone age technology.
